Lesson Objective:
The student demonstrates understanding of the proper procedure for exegeting the parables of Jesus in the Synoptic Gospels.

Upon successful completion of this lesson the student:
1. Defines the meaning of the term 'parable' in its historical and biblical context.
2. Recognizes the history of the interpretation of the parables of Jesus.
3. Assesses the stated purpose for the use of parables as a teaching method in Mark 4:10-12, 33-34; Luke 8:9-10; Matthew 13:10-17, 34-35.
4. Recognizes the various aspects and procedures inherent to proper exegesis of the parables of Jesus.
